Here is a list of the resources I have available on the Derbyshire / Midlands region of England:
DNA Analysis I recently participated in the National Geographic Genographic project (https://www3.nationalgeographic.com/genographic/atlas.html) and received the following analysis of my male DNA: These markers identifies me as a member of Haplogroup I1b1 Western. This group originated in the Dinaric Alps of the Balkans around 2,300 BC. By about 2,000 BC the group had travelled, most likely along the Danube, to the Baltic and North Sea coastal areas of Europe. This area was called Angeln and lies in southwest Jutland (now known as Schleswig-Holstein). There they stayed until sometime after 430AD when the Angles (as they had then become known) participated in the invasion of the British Isles. It is therefore likely that my direct male ancestor originally arrived in the Midlands area as part of the Anglo-Saxon occupation of post-Roman Briton. I am very keen to obtain the results of other relatives who have had their DNA tested. Please contact me with your details and I will add them to this site.
